How it works

  1. Add your images

Drop them on the page or choose them from your device. Several at a time is fine.

  2. Choose format, quality and size

WebP for websites, JPG for photos, PNG for graphics. Set a maximum width to resize as well.

  3. Download

Each image shows its new size and how much it saved. Download them one by one or all at once.

Questions people ask

  • Are my images uploaded?

No. They are compressed by your own browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to Xsofty or any server, so it is safe for private photos and client work.

  • Which format should I choose?

WebP for websites: it is usually much smaller than JPG at the same quality, and every modern browser shows it. JPG for photos you will email or post. PNG for logos, screenshots and graphics with sharp edges or transparency.

  • What quality setting should I use?

Around 75 to 85 suits most photos: the file shrinks a lot and the difference is hard to see. Go lower for thumbnails and higher for images people will zoom into. PNG has no quality setting, so resize it instead.

  • How wide should images for a website be?

About twice the width they are shown at, so they stay sharp on high-resolution screens. For most sites that means 1920 pixels or less for full-width images and around 1200 for images inside the text.

  • Is photo location data removed?

Yes. Saving through the browser drops the photo's metadata, such as GPS location and camera details, along with the extra file weight.
